Becoming a Wetherby Boy
LETTER FROM THE SCHOOL ADMISSIONS OFFICE
Welcome to Wetherby School!
The following serves as a convenient guideline for prospective families when applying to Wetherby School – Reception classes:-
1. Please telephone the school office as soon as possible after the birth of your son.
2. Please note - we do not register babies before they are born.
3. If your son should be born during the school holidays, please write to us as we
take the registrations according to the post date on the envelope.
4. Please note - our “ansamachine” does not take messages during the holidays.
5. Our registration procedure is conducted on a ‘first come, first served’ basis; but we are only able to take a limited number of registrations for each month.
6. There is no testing for boys prior to entry to Wetherby.
7. We do request nursery reports one term prior to joining.
8. We do operate a sibling priority – but unfortunately not in reverse – although we do all we can to help families in this situation.
9. Places are not allocated until invited parents have met the Headmaster.
Mid-School – subject to an available space at the given year level.
1. Parents are required to attend an interview with the Headmaster
2. Boys, whenever possible, will be invited to attend a day at the school.
3. There may be a small assessment in Mathematics, English, Reasoning and Reading depending on the boy’s age.
4. We may request reports from the previous school.
Admissions Procedures
• After your initial contact we will send you the appropriate information by mail.
• For those with a possible place the registrar will, on initial contact, invite both parents to visit the school and meet the Headmaster. The relevant paper work will be distributed after the visit.
• Should you receive a Waiting List form, please ensure that you return this at your earliest convenience together with the registration fee. You will then receive a letter from the Registrar confirming receipt of this form and fee. You will also be asked to contact the school twelve months prior to the date of entry for an update on your status.
Miss Genevieve Harrison,
School Administrator.
