Wetherby Pre-Preparatory School

Charities

Wetherby supports a number of charities through a variety of fund raising activities.

Our first charity event this year was for Get Kids Going!  Get Kids Going! is a National charity which gives disabled children and young people - up to the age of 26  - the wonderful opportunity of participating in sport.   The Chief Executive came into Wetherby and spoke to the boys about the work that they do.  The boys came into school dressed in any sports kit and brought in a donation.  It was a fun filled day that raised a lot of money for this wonderful charity.

This term we have also helped Jeans for Genes, a charity who helps children with genetic disorders.  They wanted some help with their website and wanted to make a film promoting all off the different ways that people can support Jeans for Genes.  Some boys from Year 3 came into school dressed in their Wetherby shirt, tie, blazer and their jeans! They took part in races and the Jeans for Genes team took photos and filmed them.

This year Wetherby is talking part in a scheme called WoW.  WoW (or Walk Once a Week) is a simple scheme that enables schools to promote walking to school throughout the entire school year.  The boys receive badges when they walk to school at least once each week for a whole month.  They love the badges and wear them for school.

In every classroom there is a chart where the boys fill in whether they have walked to school on that day.  The Wetherby boys are having lots of fun taking part in this exciting and innovative scheme.
