Drama

Drama is taught at Wetherby in Years 2 & 3 but the boys begin learning drama skills from Reception.  After only one term in the school all Reception boys participate in the performance of a nativity play.

There is a termly drama club (for boys in Years 1, 2 & 3) which is one of the most popular clubs in the school.  The boys quickly bond as a group through a variety of drama games and at the end of each term the boys in the club perform a play.

In the timetabled lessons boys cover use of voice, expressive use of face and body, mime, team building and trust games and in the final term of year three the boys work on a specially written play which they perform in a theatre with make up, costumes, props, curtains and lighting.

In addition during each academic year every class presents at least two assemblies to the rest of the school and these often encompass aspects of drama.  Drama is also used in a cross-curricular way in all year groups to enhance the learning in many subjects.
