E-Learning
Boys are encouraged to use technology as a tool to learn in all aspects of the curriculum. Students attend discrete ICT lesson in Reception and Year 1 have 30 minutes per week in which they are equipped with the skills to use a computer effectively to learn. We have laptops in each Year 2 and Year 3 class which are available for students to access as required during lessons. Year 2 and 3 boys also have 45 minutes instruction which is a platform for E learning in the classroom.
Laptops are used effectively to learn across the curriculum and boys are encouraged to become independant learners. Every classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and teacher laptop with the facility to print to any number of networked printers. Other facilities include scanners, digital cameras and video cameras and musical keyboards.
Discrete ICT lessons broadly follow the national curriculum objectives however much more emphasis is placed upon learning in a curriculum context rather than learning discrete ICT skills for the sake of it. This enables students to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information. Lessons also focus on developing the skills necessary for children to be able to use information in a discriminating and effective way. ICT skills are a major factor in enabling children to be confident, creative and independent learners.
