Casey Jones holds a BSc in Sport Science from University of Wales, Bangor and a PGCE in PE from University of Southampton. He has taught PE in a number of primary and secondary schools across Hampshire and more recently, the North West of England, Chester, in particular. Casey has coached and managed sports camps on the East coast of America and across the UK for the past 10 years.
Casey enjoys playing football and played semi-professional for 8 years. Casey’s other interests include running, surfing, diving, playing golf (badly) and travelling to name a few.
Casey believes physical education is not only a vital subject within the national curriculum, but also integral in the development of a healthy and happy life. Developing the understanding, enthusiasm, skills and positive attitudes of young people towards PE gives them a greater chance of continuing this into adult life. If pupils can be encouraged to take part in physical activity in a fun and enjoyable environment, then this will excite them to continue to be active throughout their school years and beyond. Casey also believes passionately in using the power of sport to develop confidence, self-esteem, team work and a strong work ethic.
Sport is an integral part of every child’s school life at Wetherby. Throughout a boys time at Wetherby he would have participated in numerous different sports including, football, tag-rugby, cricket, hockey, tennis, swimming, gymnastics and rounders. All boys are involved in a swimming, gym and games lessons every week, with the upper years having two games lessons every week.
In the upper school all boys get the chance to represent the school in football, cricket, tag-rugby and swimming against other schools and Wetherby has a very good sporting record against other London pre-prep schools.
After school and weekend clubs help expand the sporting curriculum at the school and give every child plenty of opportunities to participate in sport every week.
