Year 2 v Year 3 Wetherby Prep (Friday 9th March) SM
Our Year 2 boys the took the bull by the horns despite playing against a team that were a whole year older than them and showed the visitors just why our pre prep boys are a match for anyone.
Right from the off the Dragons piled on the pressure and could have been up by 2 or 3 in the first few minutes. The Prep school were clearly shaken by the level of intensity our boys were playing at with chances falling for Tarquin Sortir, Miller Willis, Elias G-S and Alexander Feldman. The Prep school would have been very happy going into half time at nil all. Early in the second half the Dragons were extremely unlucky not to be in front, missing a penalty and hitting the woodwork on a number of occasions. The prep goalkeeper was clearly their man of the match saving at least 20 shots. The breakthrough came midway through the second half with Miller and Elias combining well to set up Tarquin, who curled a fantastic shot into the goal, the goalkeeper having no chance. The match finished 1-0 which clearly flattered the visitors who were very lucky to concede just the one goal.
All Blacks were unlucky in their game losing 5-2, the half time score being 2-2 but in the final minutes of the game conceded a few late goals. Mr Grant was extremely impressed with the All Blacks efforts.
In the Springboks match aka Miss James vs Mr Bayes there was only going to be one winning team. Emotions were clearly running high and you could have cut the atmosphere with a knife. It turned out to be a ‘no contest’ with the
Springboks running away with it, winning 3-0 much to the delight of Miss James leaving Mr Bayes with his head in his hands, pride clearly dented.
Well done to all who were involved.
