Mental Health Awareness Day

Gratitude, resilience and looking after ourselves were the order of the day at Wetherby School on Tuesday on our first ever Mental Health Awareness Day.

Boys filled jars with gratitude stickies, focusing on appreciating what we DO have in our lives and some wrote to their teachers about what they wished their teachers really knew about them. Learning to recognise our emotions and how to deal with them provided a focus in the Early Years. A ‘good mood food’ lunch for everybody from ‘The Happy Kitchen’ by Rachel Kelly and staff massages from Massage Angels throughout the day reminded us of the importance of looking after our wellbeing in the hustle and bustle of school life. And to finish off a calm and purposeful day, staff and parents were treated to talks about mental health and the importance of early intervention by Dr Hayley van Zwanenberg, Consultant paediatric and adolescent psychiatrist at The Priory.

And all just in time for a peaceful, restorative half term break!
