Sports Update

Year 3 Tag-Rugby v Westminster

The boys got their tag-rugby season off to a great start putting some decent results together despite only having a handful of lessons to practice. The Dragons, though they were in control for much of the game, were made to work for their win. Raphael showed a clean set of heels to break the deadlock and added another 3 tries. Ale scored a hat trick of tries and Arthur went over twice. Johnny, Seb and Tristan also got on the score sheet. The game finished 12-10 to the Dragons.

The All Blacks were in great form as they won 15-7 as Alexander and Redmond both scored 4 tries each, Nico and Ludo went over twice and Tyler,  Arlo and Oscar also found the score sheet.

The Springboks also put in a decent performance as they won 15-12 as Timotheé and Ludo both scored 6 tries each.

Year 3 Football v St Paul’s Juniors

The boys were looking forward to their first football fixture of the season and started in great fashion! The Dragons put in a near perfect display as they were solid at the back, won everything in midfield and took their chances up front! Tyler was on fire as he scored 4, Seb also found the net and midfield maestro and man of the match Raphael scored a cracker! Arthur was solid in goal and Johnny and Cooper were outstanding at the back! The final score 6-1!

The All Blacks also put in a great performance as they won 3-0 with their goals coming from Alexander who scored 2 and one from Ale. The Springboks were phenomenal as they won 6-0 with Arlo and Nicolo both scoring 2 each and Redmond and Theodore also getting on the score sheet. The Wallabies rounded things off with an impressive 3-0 win with their goals coming from Lewis, Oliver and Arpad!

Year 3 Tag-Rugby v The Falcons

Having won 3 from 3 the week before vs Westminster Under, the boys were keen to continue the winning streak despite testing conditions underfoot! The Dragons, however, lacked energy and focus in the early stages as they were at fault for a number of ball handling errors. They went into half time 3-1 up with tries from Ale, Seb and Raphael but it should have been a lot more. In the second half they found their feet and played some good rugby as man of the match Ale grabbed another 2 tries, Seb scored his second and Alexander and Arthur also went over. The final score was 8-2.

The All Blacks were far from convincing as they too showed nerves early on and it took a very stern half time team talk from Mr Lewis for the boys to pull their socks up! Luckily this did the trick as Timothee scored a hat trick of tries, Tristan and Redmond both scored 2 apiece and Oscar also went over. The final score was 8-5. The Springboks won 6-2 as Nicolo and Cass both scored 2 tries each and Jonah and Arlo both went over to score. The Wallabies rounded off a fantastic week as they won 5-4 with Sebastian scoring all 5 tries. A special mention must go to Year 2 boy Carlos, who was drafted in to play at short notice as the Wallabies were a man down! Bizarrely, Mr Smith placed Carlos on the Falcons team and he managed to score all 4 tries!!

Year 3 Football v Garden House

Wetherby were keen to keep up their unbeaten run, especially as they had put in some very convincing performances recently. Although slow to start, The Dragons put in a good second half performance to win 8-0 with their goals coming from hat trick hero Raphael, Ale with 2 and Tyler, Arthur and Cooper all adding to the tally.

The All Blacks were equally as impressive as they won 7-0 with man of the match Ludo scoring 5 and Arlo with 2. The shock of the day came from the Springboks match as they lost 3-2, conceding late on due to a defensive mix up as well as missing a penalty with the last kick of the game. The Wallabies did well to win 1-0 with their goal coming from Alfred.
