Artist Visit

In art club this week the boys had a visit from local artist David Rees. David spoke to the boys about his style and the techniques he uses to create his work.

“It is so important when painting to not be afraid to make mistakes, so I give myself free rein to be brave. I avoid paintbrushes as much as possible and instead use rollers, sometimes using a palette knife or some scrunched-up tissue for the finer details or to add texture.”

The boys then had a go a creating some tigers using David’s techniques. They really enjoyed asking him lots of questions about his work and really got stuck in to giving it a go! The boys particularly enjoyed using their fingers to flick paint onto their work, adding movement and texture.
